Near the end of last week, students and professors from the Reutlingen University (Germany) visited Brodotrogir as part of their study tour. They were accompanied by a representative from the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering and Naval Architecture from Split. The Reutlingen University, FESB from Split and Brodotrogir d.d. work together on the joint EU LOPEC project and this visit was a follow-up of their past collaborations.
Mr. Mario Rovan greeted them on behalf of the host and showed these young people how the Brodotrogir d.d. shipyard really operates. The students showed the greatest interest for the logistic processes and for their transformation, carried out with the aim of reducing costs for moving and storing materials and reducing the load of available surfaces, which is also the subject of the joint project.
After arriving at the slipway where the construction of tankers was in full swing, the students asked their host a plethora of questions; on construction methods and deadlines, construction process, materials used etc.
After being shown the construction part of the shipyard, the students visited the docks where they were shown maintenance and repairs carried out on ships, in this specific case, on the MT Sepen.
The mega structures undergoing construction and repairs in the shipyard impressed the students, and their professors, too.
