The Split economic meeting of the delegation of the German region of Mecklenburg-Vorpommen and economic agents from Splitsko-dalmatinska County to be held in the framework of international cooperation of economies of Germany and Croatia will commence with the visit of the German delegation to our shipyard on July 2 and continue the following day at 10 a.m. with business meeting in hotel Atrium in Split.
The economy of the region of Mecklenburg-Vorpommen is closely connected with the shipbuilding industry, which was fully restructured and privatized when Eastern and Western Germany united. Nowadays, the shipyards in the cities of Wismar, Rostock-Warnemünde, Stralsund, Greifswald and Wolgast are considered some of the most modern highly efficient shipyards in the world. Simultaneously with the transformation of the shipbuilding industry, tourism, especially nautical tourism, was also developed in the region, mostly on the coasts of the North Sea.
Since the development of Mecklenburg-Vorpommen region is similar to the conditions and problems encountered by Splitsko-dalmatinska County, it is believed that there exist realistic conditions for economic cooperation in the area of exchange of experiences with the development of shipbuilding and tourism, participation in the development of products and services and joint appearance on the market.
The fact that the representatives of Fraunhofer Institute from Rostock, who participated in the designing of the modern form of Brodotrogir-a compact shipyard with lean production, representatives of the University of Rostock, Association of German Incubators and ADT technological centers, without the support of which the successful transformation of German shipbuilding would be impossible, also found their place in the delegation has special relevance for Brodotrogir.
